Explore-a-thon is the Museum’s signature educational and recreational event for families, designed to provide a real children’s museum-type experience while raising funds to construct the walls of the region’s first children’s museum to be built at Rye Playland.
EVENT OVERVIEW
Explore-a-thon is an interactive and magical day of play, experimentation, and discovery for children and families. Following an interactive route that traverses Rye Town Park and the Playland boardwalk just steps from construction site of the future Museum, children and families will discover and enjoy hands-on "Exploration Stations" modeled after future museum exhibits.
Each family will receive one t-shirt, refreshments, entertainment, and exciting give-a-ways with admission. All proceeds benefit the campaign for the Westchester Children’s Museum, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
WAYS TO PARTICIPATE
· Bring your family and enjoy the day together. Sign-up details are noted below.
· Sponsor a Child: An individual, family or corporation may also volunteer to sponsor a child or group of children to attend the event. “Explorer Buddies” can choose to be paired up with a child from a local children’s organization. Past groups include the Port Chester Carver Center and the Westhab Shelter in White Plains. Explorer Buddies are encouraged to donate $100 per child or $1,000 for a group and attend the event, although they are not required to attend.
