This exciting event, held at the Rye Playland Boardwalk, benefits the Campaign for the Westchester Children's Museum.

The Westchester Children's Museum will be the first and only museum dedicated to children in the county and beyond.This state-of-the-art museum will provide a safe and fun learning environment for all children for generations to come. The landmarked Bathhouses at Rye Playland Boardwalk are the future home of the museum. To date, Westchester County has appropriated $8.8 million to renovate the 1920's Art Deco buildings and ready them for their new purpose. Resotration of the building began fall of 2009. In order to build a state-of-the-art children's museum, our goal is to raise in excess of $7 million and we are more than halfway there!

EVENT OVERVIEW

For the fourth year, we are presenting the Expore-a-Thon. Partner with us at this interactive and magical day of play, experimentation, and discovery for children and families. You and your family will discover and enjoy "Exploration Stations" modeled after future museum exhibits. All activities are designed to nurture curiosity, enhance knowledge and erxcite imagination. There is a suggested donation of $75 per family in advance. All proceeds benefit the development of the Westchester Children's Museum. Each family will receive one t-shirt, reshments, entertainment, and exciting give-a-ways.

WAYS TO PARTICIPATE

·  Bring your family and enjoy the day together. Sign-up details are noted below.
·  Sponsor a Child: An individual, family or corporation may also volunteer to sponsor a child or group of children to attend the event. Those who do will be called “Explorer Buddies” and will be paired up with a child from a local children’s organization. Past groups include the Port Chester Carver Center and the Westhab Shelter in White Plains. Explorer Buddies are encouraged to donate $100 per child or $1,000 for a group and attend the event, although they are not required to attend.
