WHERE
The Westchester Children’s Museum will have a premier location on the Long Island Sound, in historic landmark buildings on the Boardwalk at Rye Playland, which evoke whimsy and set the stage for an exceptional children’s museum experience.
The Playland Bathhouses provide nearly 40,000 square feet for exhibitions, programs, classrooms, and a cafe. The County of Westchester will restore the exterior of the buildings, currently unoccupied, in advance of the Museum developing the interior exhibit and visitor spaces. The site offers unparalleled opportunities for: - Architectural renewal and adaptive reuse of a beautiful historic landndmark
- Environmental programming on the shores of the Long Island Sound
- Green design and best practices for sustainable development
