An hour-long introduction on Tuesdays into some of the basic styles of art and their background. Registration required, limited to 20 participants.
Four week program
July 8, 15, 22, 29

July 8 - Tinker Toy Maker/Animation
Students will gain an understanding of the history of animation, as well as a basic introduction to the concepts of persistence of vision and optical illusions by drawing their own film strips that will be tested in our historic animation toys.
July 14 - Cool Comics
Students will gain an understanding of the basics of cartoon design by learning how to draw a complicated character or object in a simplified way.
July 22 - Mondrian
Students will learn about different kinds of lines, shapes, primary colors, fractions, intersecting lines, and parallel lines as they create an artwork in Piet Mondrian’s style.
July 29 - Pixel Pictures
Students will learn about the artistic style known as pointillism, as well as gain an understanding of resolution by exploring the design of their favorite video game character.
Simultaneous Programs for Two Age Groups:
Group 1: entering kindergarten through 2nd grade
Group 2: entering 3rd grade through 5th grade
