This innovative exhibit, created by the talented, autistic young adults from The Nicholas Center, transforms discarded materials into colorful sea creatures and underwater scenes, sending a powerful message about environmental responsibility through original artworks. The Nicholas Center has revolutionized the way autistc adults learn, live and work in the community....offering vocational training and supported employment, community projects and a safe space to foster vital peer connections. The exhibit is a wonderful example of creativity, inclusion, and community service.

The Nicholas Center is a proud partner of the Westchester Children's Museum. Each week, seven Nicholas Center participants volunteer as playworkers, gaining valuable vocational training experience. They engage with children through reading, music, and movement activities, while also maintaining and organizing the playstations to ensure a clean, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for all visitors. This partnership offers opportunity, connection to community and hope for an often marginalized population facing 85% unemployment and under engagement. A Core Value of The Nicholas Center is to be woven into the fabric of the community...this connection does just that and more!

In addition to their weekly involvement, the Nicholas Center has collaborated with the Museum on the Disconnect 2 Reconnect project—packing over 1,000 activity backpacks designed to encourage quality, unplugged family time.
