Toddler Beach

Toddler Beach is growing!

Currently a colorful and inviting soft play area that mimics the beach outside our doors, we are now in development to bring you a dynamic new space for our youngest visitors.

Rendering of What the future Early Childhood Exhibit and Playspace could look like

Toddler Beach, our early childhood play space, has gotten a summer makeover!

When the Westchester Children's Museum opened its doors in 2016 in the much smaller 6,000 square foot Boardwalk Gallery, Toddler Beach quickly became a hub of play featuring views of the Long Island Sound and soft play structures and mats mimicked the appearance of sand dunes and ocean water. The Museum today is 22,000 square feet and our visitorship is much bigger - so we are delighted to give well-loved Toddler Beach the re-fresh that it deserves while plans are underway to develop a new early childhood exhibit. Refreshed Toddler Beach is larger and located in a more enclosed, quieter area, still with a view of the LI Sound and also now closer to the family restrooms.

Toddler Beach remains the space where our littlest visitors can play freely, exercise gross motor challenges, and now, explore textures, sounds, and sights to develop cognitive, physical, and emotional skills. The exhibit is designed to encourage reaching, grasping, crawling, and walking to build physical abilities, coordination and confidence.

Please note: Registration is now open for the NEW Baby & ME, a structured 45-minute music & movement-based program for infants (ages 0–18 months) & their caregivers to be held in Toddler Beach, Saturday mornings from 8:45–9:30 AM, before the museum opens to the public to provide a calm, engaging, & developmentally appropriate space for babies to explore music, movement, & sensory play in a nurturing museum environment.

Created for the Museum’s Youngest Visitors, Infants & Toddlers

Planning is underway for a NEW Early Childhood Exhibit and Playspace which will be a safe, stimulating environment to explore and learn through play is essential for cognitive, physical, and emotional development.
